τρίναξ
Appearance
Ancient Greek
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Traditionally derived from τρῐ- (tri-, three) + ἀκή (akḗ, “point, extremity”). However, Furnée compares θρῖναξ (thrînax, “three-pronged fork”), suggesting a Pre-Greek origin, in view of the variation θρι-/τρι- and the typical substrate suffix -ᾰξ.
