[edit]From Venetan trata, from Italian tratto, from Latin tractus, perfect passive participle of trahō (“I drag; extract”), from Proto-Indo-European *tragʰ- (“to draw, drag”) or Proto-Indo-European *dʰerǵʰ- (“to bind fast”).
