Etymology

From Proto-Indo-European *torh₁-ós, from *terh₁- (to rub, turn; to drill, pierce).[1] Compare τετραίνω (tetraínō, to bore), Latin terō (I rub) and Old Armenian թուր (tʻur, sword).
