[edit]From same root as τεύχω (teúkhō), from Proto-Indo-European *dʰewgʰ- (“to be ready, be sufficient”). Compare Lithuanian daũg (“much, many”), Old Saxon dōg (“to be suitable”), Proto-Slavic *dužь (“strength, power”).
