From Proto-Indo-European *dʰreh₂gʰ- (to confuse, agitate, disturb). Cognate with τρᾱχῠ́ς (trākhŭ́s) and Proto-Slavic *dražiti (to annoy, irritate). Doublet of θρᾱ́σσω (thrā́ssō).
