Etymology

Uncertain. Has been compared with Sanskrit प्युक्ष्नवेष्टित (pyukṣnaveṣṭita), but the connection is rather tenuous. May also be Pre-Greek, per Furnee; this is tentatively supported by Beekes.[1]
