Inherited from Byzantine Greek ξεφαντώνω (xephantṓnō), from εξεφαντώνω (exephantṓnō), from Koine Greek *ἐκφαντῶ (*ekphantô), from ἔκφαντος (ékphantos, shown forth, revealed).[1][2]
