μοιάζω (moiázo) (past έμοιασα, passive —)

  1. (intransitive) to look like, resemble, take after (to be like or similar to)
    Το παιδί σου σού μοιάζει.
    To paidí sou soú moiázei.
    Your child looks like you.
    Μοιάζει με βούτυρο αλλά δεν είναι.
    Moiázei me voútyro allá den eínai.
    It looks like butter but isn't.
  2. (intransitive, with για (gia)) look like, be taken for (by somebody, in the genitive)
    Σου μοιάζω για ηλίθιος;
    Sou moiázo gia ilíthios?
    Do you take me for an idiot?
    Σου είπα να αγοράσεις λάχανο. Σου μοιάζει για λάχανο αυτό;
    Sou eípa na agoráseis láchano. Sou moiázei gia láchano aftó?
    I told you to buy cabbage. Does this look like cabbage to you?
  3. (intransitive, third person singular, with να (na)) look like, seems like
    Μοιάζει να βρέξει.
    Moiázei na vréxei.
    It looks like it's going to rain.
