Etymology
[edit]From Proto-Indo-European *ḱŕ̥h₂-es-n-h₂, from *ḱerh₂- (“head, top”). Cognate with Ancient Greek κάρα (kára, “head, face”), Proto-Germanic *hirzniją (“brain”) and Old Armenian սար (sar, “tip, top; mountain”).
