Learnedly, from Ancient Greek ἐκπίπτω (ekpíptō). By surface analysis, εκ- (ek-) +‎ πίπτω (pípto)

  • Syntax: εκπίπτω + από (apó, from) + accusative case
    formal: + genitive case
  • The ancient distinction of transitive ἐκπίπτω (ekpíptō) & passive sense ἐκπίπτομαι (ekpíptomai) is not[1][2] retained in Modern Greek (but is proposed at Babiniotis Dictionary[3])
