Etymology
[edit]The formation can be compared with βάθος (báthos) and βυθός (buthós). The word has been compared with γνυφαί (gnuphaí, “vales, dells”), suggesting a Pre-Greek origin, like in σκύφος (skúphos)/σκύθος (skúthos).
