[edit]From Ottoman Turkish غایده (gayda, “bagpipes”), from Bulgarian гайда (gajda). Akin to Macedonian гајда (gajda, “bagpipes”), Serbo-Croatian gajde (“bagpipes”), Czech gajdy and Slovak gajdy.
