żieni (feminine singular żienja, plural żienja or żenjin)

  1. lewd, promiscuous, adulterous; (especially religion) given to or constituting sexual sin
    • 2017 November 5, “Reċensjoni tal-ktieb “Il-prostituzzjoni f’Malta””, in Kullħadd[1], page 26:
Prostituzzjoni tfisser ‘il-kummerċ fil-ħajja żienja għall-flus’ u dan ifisser li mhux kull mara żienja hija prostituta għaliex fejn m’hemmx l-għoti tal-flus, ir-rigal jew il-favur bi tpattija għal dan is-servizz, ma tistax tissejjaħ prostituzzjoni.
Prostitution means ‘dealing in a promiscuous lifestyle for money’, and this means that not every promiscuous woman is a prostitute because when there is no giving of money, gifts or favours in exchange for such service, this cannot be called prostitution.
  2. (nominalised) fornicator, adulterer
