önjfånge

[edit]Etymology
[edit]From Low German anfangen. The cognate of Low German fangen is North Frisian füünj. Less Low German-influenced dialects use began (Föhr-Amrum), bigen (Sylt). The weak conjugation is due to the foreign origin. The formation of the perfect tenses with “to be” is the rule in Low German (and also heard in colloquial Standard German).
