[edit]Etymology
[edit]Possibly from Proto-Albanian *antā (“desire; breath, soul”),[1] from *anja (“to breathe”) (whence ëj (“to blow; to swell”)),[2] from Proto-Indo-European *h₂enh₁- (“to breathe”), + *-tā (nominal suffix). Compare semantics of Tocharian B āñme (“wish, desire; self, inner being, soul”).[3] Possibly related to the personal name Illyrian *Andis.
