Etymology

Inherited from Old Swedish ämbar, from Middle Low German [Term?], from Proto-West Germanic *ambrī, likely borrowed from Latin amphora, from Ancient Greek ᾰ̓μφορεύς (ămphoreús). Doublet of amfora. Compare Norwegian Nynorsk ambar and Riksmål Norwegian amber.
