Etymology

Borrowed from Japanese おしん (o-Shin), feminine honorific name of Shin Tanokura, the titular character of the popular Japanese drama Oshin.

     Ở Malaysia, người giúp việc vẫn bị coi là "người hầu" và ít nhận được sự bảo vệ của pháp luật. Không giống như những người lao động khác, ô sin không có chế độ hưởng ngày nghỉ phép hoặc giờ làm việc theo quy định thông thường.

     In Malaysia, maids are still referred to as "servants" and receive little protection under the law. Unlike other types of workers, maids are not entitled to leave and regular work hours.
