[edit]Coined by Antun Mažuranić and Josip Užarević in their 1842 Němačko-ilirski slovar. Combining form derivative of zvijézda (“star”) + -znanstvo (“science, -ology”) from znȃn + -stvo (abstract noun forming suffix).
