[edit]Inherited from Ottoman Turkish یاری یاری یه (yarı yarıya),[1][2][3] from یاری (yarı),[4] equivalent to yarı (“half”) + yarı + -(y)a (dative suffix with "y" as buffer consonant), literally “half to half”.
