From Ottoman Turkish اورمق (urmak, vurmak), from Proto-Turkic *ur-. Cognate with Azerbaijani vurmaq, Old Turkic 𐰆𐰺 (ur-), Kyrgyz уруу (uruu), Uzbek urmak.
