Inherited from Ottoman Turkish والحاصل (velḥāṣıl),[1][2] from Arabic وَ (wa, and) +‎ اَلْ (al-, the) +‎ حَاصِل (ḥāṣil, outcome, bottom line, sum),[3] equivalent to ve +‎ hasıl.
