[edit]From Proto-Finnic *vanko (cognate with Estonian vang and Võro vang), from Proto-Finno-Permic *waŋka, probably borrowed from Indo-Iranian (compare Sanskrit वङ्क (vaṅka, “crooked”)).[1]
