[edit]Inherited from Medieval Latin Turcus, borrowed from Byzantine Greek Τοῦρκος (Toûrkos), borrowed from Classical Persian ترک, from Old Turkic 𐱅𐰇𐰼𐰜 (t²ür²k̥), from Proto-Turkic *tür(ü)k. Doublet of torqui, through Arabic.
