  1. (baseball, literally) To touch a base, usually with a foot but sometimes with a hand.
  2. (by extension, idiomatic, colloquial, Canada, US, usually with "with") To meet or make contact with someone, usually to consult, review, visit, or communicate.
    Touch base with your boss before you start work to make sure you understand the project.
