Etymology

Inherited from Chagatai تورت (tūrt /⁠tȫrt⁠/, four), from Karakhanid تُورْتْ (tūrt /⁠tȫrt⁠/, four), from Common Turkic *tȫrt (four), from Proto-Turkic *tȫrt (four). Cognate with Uyghur تۆت (töt) / төт (töt); Turkmen dȫrt, Azerbaijani دؤرد / дөрд / dörd, Turkish dört; Old Uyghur 𐾀𐽳𐽶𐽾𐾀 (twyrt /⁠tört⁠/), Old Turkic 𐱅𐰇𐰼𐱅 (t²ür²t² /⁠tört⁠/); etc.
