[edit]Inherited from Ottoman Turkish تسكین (teskin, “a calming, pasifying, making quiet”),[1][2] from Arabic تَسْكِين (taskīn, “pacification”), verbal noun of سَكَّنَ (sakkana, “to calm, to reassure, to appease”).[3]
