[edit]From teleologie + -isch, itself from New Latin teleolog, coined 1728 by German philosopher Baron Christian von Wolff (1679-1754) from Ancient Greek τέλειος (téleios, “entire, perfect, complete”) + -λογία (-logía, “-logy”).
