[edit]From Ottoman Turkish تكفور, from Arabic تَكْفُور (takfūr), from Middle Armenian թագւոր (tʻagwor), from Old Armenian թագաւոր (tʻagawor, “king”), from Parthian *tag(a)-bar (“king”, literally “crown bearing”), borrowed during the Armenian Kingdom of Cilicia.
