Etymology

Inherited from Ottoman Turkish تدریجاً (tedricen),[1][2] from Arabic تَدْرِيجًا (tadrījan) adverbial accusative of تَدْرِيج (tadrīj), verbal noun of دَرَّجَ (darraja, to step forward, to proceed gradually).[3]
