[edit]Borrowed from Old French talant, alternative form of talent, from Latin talentum (“a Grecian weight; a talent of money”), from Ancient Greek τάλαντον (tálanton, “balance; a particular weight, especially of gold; sum of money; a talent”). Doublet of talento.
