Cognate with Burmese ဆေး (hce:, “medicine, paint, tobacco”), Nuosu ꋌ (cy) (as in ꁬꋌ (bbut cy, “medicine”)), Tangut 𗿧 (*tsə̣¹, “medicine”), Jingpho tsi (“medicine”). Compare Lhao Vo cid', Zaiwa chi and Hpon kăʃì(ʔ) (“medicine; tobacco”).
