Aromanian
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Uncertain. Possibly from Thracian *suntam. Less likely, it may be derived instead from Proto-Slavic *sъto. Otherwise, it may have descended from a substratum term, or an unknown satem language, in any case ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *ḱm̥tóm (“hundred”). Compare Romanian sută.
