Etymology

Probably from a Vulgar Latin root *extracolāre or *transcolāre, from Latin colāre, present active infinitive of colō (filter, strain, purify). Compare Aromanian stricor, stricurari. Less likely from s- + trece (pass), and with influence from verbs like spânzura, vântura, etc.[1]
