Etymology
[edit]Modern Greek σπανακόπιτα (spanakópita), from σπανάκι (spanáki, “spinach”) + πίτα (píta, “pie”). Usually short for σπανακοτυρόπιτα (spanakotyrópita, “spanakotiropita, spinach and cheese pie”), from same as above and τυρί (tyrí, “cheese”).
