Etymology
[edit]From Proto-Semitic *ṣ́yḳ- (“to be narrow”). Cognate with Arabic ضَاقَ (ḍāqa, “to be narrow”) and Biblical Hebrew צוּק (ṣuq, “to constrain, bring into straits, press upon”).
