  1. Of a device setting, a strategy, etc.: configured a certain way and then left without further attention.

      If you're using a set-and-forget compass, draw a big sigh of relief at this point. You can forget about adding and subtracting angles once you've set the declination and double-checked that you set it in the right direction.
