Affixed diri +‎ se- (probably through affixed Old Javanese aṅḍiri, aṇḍiri (to stand; to be functional, to reign; standing alone; outstanding), probably from Proto-Mon-Khmer *andir instead of Malay diri directly), inherited from Malay sendiri.
