sellemoanne

West Frisian
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Unclear. Selle could be derived from Old Frisian 'sol' (compare modern West Frisian 'soal'), meaning 'mud', referring to ground conditions in this time of winter. Alternatively, it could be related to Old High German sēl and Old English sel, meaning 'good, mild', referring to the end of winter and arrival of milder weather.[1]
