[edit]From Persian سکنجبین (sekanjabin, “honeyed vinegar”), from Arabic سِكَنْجَبِين (sikanjabīn), from Persian سکنگبین (sekangabin), from earlier سرکنگبین (serkangabin), from سرکه (serke, “vinegar”) and انگبین (angobin, “honey”).
