Usage notes

"Segunda feira" used to refer to specifically the Monday in the week before Easter; the Holy Week. Saint Martin objected to this, viewing it as barbarism. His influence made the language assume names for the days from numbers and Catholic liturgy, rather than from pagan deities.[1]
