[edit]Etymology
[edit]From Old French solonc, sulonc, sulunc (compare French selon), probably from a Vulgar Latin *sublungum, from Latin sub + longum. Alternatively from a supposed Old French *seon or from son (itself from Latin secundum; compare Old Occitan segon), later crossed with long, lonc.
