[edit]Inherited from Sanskrit डोम्बिनी (ḍombinī), feminine of डोम्ब (ḍomba). By surface analysis, rrom (“Romani man”) + -ni (“feminine suffix”). Cognate with Hindustani ڈومنی / डोमनी (ḍomnī), Marwari डूमणी (ḍūmṇī), and Punjabi ڈومنی / ਡੂਮਣੀ (ḍūmṇī)
