Usage notes
[edit]This term, "ringmärkning", is generally used for ringing of birds in general - as in "Ringmärkning har pågått här i sju år" ("Ringing has been going on here for seven years.") or in "Ringmäräkningen av fåglar inleddes under 1800-talet med enskilda forskares experiment." ("The ringing of birds started in the 19th century with the experiments of single scientists."). Thus, the plural form is very uncommon. However, the term can also be used (but is not as often used for) each ringing of every single bird - as in "Rekordmånga ringmärkningar i år" ("Record in number of ringings this year.").
