[edit]Inherited from Ottoman Turkish رفیقه f (refiḳa, “any companion or associate”),[1][2] from Arabic رَفِيقَة (rafīqa), feminine of رَفِيق (rafīq), from رَفُقَ (rafuqa, “to be a companion”).[3]
