[edit]A diminutive ( + -ie) formed from Middle English rak, rack, rakke (“parrel”), from Old English racca (“parrel”), from Proto-West Germanic *rakkō, from Proto-Germanic *rakkô (“rope, cord”), from Proto-Indo-European *reǵ- (“to tie, bind”). Cognate with dialectal Norwegian rakke (“parrel”).
