Etymology

From Proto-Turkic *kïl- (to do, to make).[1] Cognate with Old Turkic 𐰴‬𐰃‬𐰞 (kïl-, to do),[2] Turkish kılmak (to do), Uzbek qilmoq (to do), Chuvash ӗҫ-хӗл (ĕś-hĕl, work, business, matters, concerns).
