[edit]Compound of purba- + wisesa, from Javanese ꦥꦸꦂꦧꦮꦶꦱꦺꦱ (purbawisésa, “dominance; power”, literally “prime abundant”), from Old Javanese pūrwa (“prominent; first”) + wiśeṣa (“eminent, excellent; supreme”), from Sanskrit पूर्व (pūrva) + विशेष (viśeṣa).
