[edit]From Latin petaurista (“a ropedancer, acrobat”), from Ancient Greek πετευριστής (peteuristḗs), from πετευρίζομαι (peteurízomai, “dance on a rope”), from πέτευρον (péteuron, “a pole, a stage for ropedancers”).
