- monstera (plant of the genus Monstera, endemic to Central and South America, some species of which are commonly used as houseplants)
- short for jättipeikonlehti, ceriman, Swiss cheese plant, Monstera deliciosa (the most commonly cultivated species of this genus)
Usage notes
[edit]- The term "Swiss cheese plant" refers in many sources to the most commonly cultivated species Monstera deliciosa, but is sometimes used also of the whole genus Monstera and sometimes to refer to another species within the genus.
- Some more commonly cultivated species have their own common names:
- jättipeikonlehti, Monstera deliciosa (ceriman, Swiss cheese plant etc.)
- menninkäisenlehti, Monstera obliqua
- Monstera acuminata (shingle plant)
- Monstera friedrichsthalii (Fredericka starlite)
