[edit]First attested in 1781. From French pédagogique, from Latin paedagōgicus, pēdagōgicus, from Ancient Greek παιδαγωγικός (paidagōgikós), from παιδαγωγός (paidagōgós, “teacher, tutor”), from παῖς (paîs, “child”) + ἄγω (ágō, “I lead”).
